EVARTS TRAILHEAD-Main Trailhead

Located on KY 2430, eight miles east of Harlan on KY 38, Evart's Trailhead enters the park from the south side of Black Mountain via Trails 10 and 12. The trail system's main office and gift shop is located at the trailhead, and other facilities amenities are planned. Amenities and facilities are currently available at the City of Evarts.

• Office & General Store (Official Black Mountain and Harlan County souvenirs, snacks, drinks & more)

• Primitive and Developed Campsites (Tent decks available at Beach Creek Campground)

• Free Trailhead Parking

PUTNEY TRAILHEAD

(Google Maps)Located directly off U.S. 119 eight miles north of Harlan, Putney Trailhead enters the park from the north side of Black Mountain via trail  48. Putney Trailhead is privately operated by Harlan County Campground & RV Park which provides the following amenities.

• Parking ($5 fee)

• Cabin Rentals

• RV Sites

• Primitive Camping

Additional Lodging

Both trailheads are approximatley nine miles from the City of Harlan where more lodging is available. More lodging is available in the City of Cumberland, 12 miles from the Putney Trailhead.

Putney Trailhead is it's own entity and is not actually part of the park. You can purchase the permit for Black Mountain Offroad there but that is all.  There business is completly seperate from ours. Rules, hours, and RV/camping  pricing will differ.
